Ruth Joan (Madsen) Rasmussen, age 90, was born on Oct. 19, 1932, in Omaha, and passed away Aug. 1, 2023 in Omaha. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be held at the church, prior to services, beginning at 10 a.m.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Agnes Madsen, brother Howard Madsen and husband Duane Rasmussen.

She is survived by sons; David (Mary) Rasmussen of Blair and Scott (Colleen) Rasmussen of Omaha, grandchildren; Sophie, Bill, Jim, Maggie, Daniel, Sean and Jack, great grandchildren; Rosie, Teddy, Nora, Lily, Luke, Tessa, Emmett and Oliver, along with her sister Donna Madsen of Omaha.

Memorials may be directed to the Danish American Archive and Library in Blair, Neb.

Ruth Joan (Madsen) Rasmussen, age 90 of Blair, passed away on August 1, 2023 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00AM at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be held at the church, prior to services, beginning at 10:00AM.

Ruth was born on October 19, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Alfred and Agnes (Friberg) Madsen. She attended Bensen High School for one year and then attended and graduated from Laurens High School in Laurens, Iowa in 1949. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1954. She earned a Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of Iowa and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from UNO. Ruth work for Dana College for more than 25 years before retiring in 1997.

She is survived by sons David (Mary) Rasmussen of Blair and Scott (Colleen) Rasmussen of Omaha, grandchildren Sophie, Bill, Jim, Maggie, Daniel, Sean and Jack, great grandchildren Rosie, Teddy, Nora, Lily, Luke, Tessa, Emmett and Oliver, and sister Donna Madsen of Omaha. She is predeceased by her parents, a brother Howard Madsen and her husband Duane Rasmussen.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials directed to the Danish American Archive and Library in Blair.
