Obituary Record

John Lloyd Hardy
Died on 7/15/2023

John Lloyd Hardy was born December 18, 1947 to parents Lloyd and Edith (Schneider) Hardy in Omaha, Nebraska. After a brave battle with leukemia, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and best friend passed away July 15, 2023 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska, surrounded by family.

A native of Nebraska, he was a farm boy that loved having fun and getting into mischief. He was a graduate of Tekamah-Herman High School, where he met his future wife, Suzanne Schmidt. They were married on September 3, 1965. He attended Dana College until pursuing a farming career and settling in Tekamah where he and his wife raised three wonderful sons.

While farming he also pursued a childhood dream of crop dusting and took Ag Flight Training School in Casa Grande, AZ and started working at Gramke Aerial Service in 1979—later purchasing the business and starting Har-Mor Ag Air, Inc. with partner Ed Morrow where they’d fly together from 1982 – 2007 and continuing his boyhood fun and mischief.

He farmed, flew and was an active member and Past Worshipful Master of Tekamah Lodge #31 and York Rite where he served as Past High Priest of Mackey Chapter and Past Illustrious Master Triad Council #33. In addition to Masonry, he was active with Tekamah Fire Board, Burt Co. Extension, Northridge and numerous other organizations.

After retiring, John continued doing the things he loved which were spending time with family, travel, hunting and golf but not always in that order.

Anyone that knew John, knew that he never complained, did what he promised and always made you laugh. His huge heart was visible to everyone. We miss you dearly but know that Heaven needed a Hero and you’re smiling down on us every day. Also, if we’re not mistaken, you and God are probably comparing drivers and seeing who can hit a better 1-iron.

John is survived by his wife, Suzanne; sons John (Laura); Jason (Ann) and Jesse Hardy; granddaughters Logan, Raegan, Peyton, Madison, Sloan and Shelby Hardy; sister Linda (Earl) Bandy, sister-in-law Cheryl Palmer and brother-in-law Bob (Wendy) Schmidt. John was preceded in death by parents, step-parents Madeline Hardy and Gene Geise; sister Carol Havenhill; brother-in-law, Jerry Palmer and Nephews Tim and Dennis Bandy and Thomas Griffith IV.
