Greg Edward Witte, a beloved father, husband, and pastor, passed away on July 30, 2023, in Virginia Beach, VA, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 74 years old.

Born on June 29, 1949, in Randolph, NE, Greg grew up on the family farm alongside his five siblings. Despite his many travels and adventures, he always held a deep connection to his hometown, frequently returning to celebrate holidays with his large extended family.

Greg graduated from Randolph High School in 1967. Then he pursued higher education at Dana College in Blair, NE, Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA, and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA, where he obtained a Master's and Ph.D. in Theology. During this time, he married the love of his life, Connie, in 1974.

Greg's passion for serving others led him to a career in religious ministry. He served as a Campus Pastor at Dana College and as a Pastor at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA. He also served as a Chaplain in the Navy Reserve. Later, Greg transitioned into nursing home administration and retired as Executive Director of Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, IA. Greg and Connie eventually moved to Virginia, where they enjoyed the serenity of beachside living.

Greg and Connie celebrated 49 years of marriage, building a lifetime of cherished memories together. In retirement, they found solace in gazing out over the vast ocean. Greg's warm presence and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Greg approached life with a love of laughter and a zest for new experiences. Whether savoring Greek cuisine or sharing a hearty laugh while watching his beloved Three Stooges, he embraced every moment with a song in his heart.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his brothers, Rodney Witte, Douglas Witte, and Brad Witte; his sisters, Gwen Dickey and Lynn Brummels; his sons, John and Adam; his daughter-in-law Lisa Witte; and his grandchildren, Logan and Olivia Witte. To honor Greg's memory, his family kindly requests donations to River City Mixed Chorus and Surfer's Healing Virginia Beach
