DALE D. ADAMS, 59

Former Fremont resident Dale D. Adams, 59, of Nickerson, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001 in the Immanuel Fontanelle Home in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont, with the Rev. John Plowman officiating. Interment will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery near Elkhorn.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Dale D. Adams was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Yutan to Walter and Luella (Cords) Adams. He grew up on a farm south of Fremont near Leshara in Sauders County.

He graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1959, and farmed with his father and brothers for several years. Then he worked as a guard in the state penitentiary and drove trucks. He lived near Leshara until 1966. On Sept. 17, 1966, he married Sherri Smith in Mead.

He also lived in Lincoln, and in Ainsworth, returning to the Fremont area in 1974. He lived in this area until he was injured in a motor vehicle accident in 1987, after which he resied in a nursing home until his death.

Mr. Adams spent much of his time working with horses, both driving and riding, and taking part in parades with the horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Jr.; and a son, Andy Burdette Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dwight and Deb Adams of Fremont, two daughters and a son-in-law, Vicky and Bill Heir-Lelf of Fremont, and Amy and fiance Ren Richardson of Omaha, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry Adams of Wahoo, Jim and Betty Adams of Fremont, Virgil "Bud" and Mary Adams of Fremont, and Leo and Cindy Adams of Colon, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie and Merwin Long of Fremont, and Marylou Adams of Fremont, eight grandchildren, three aunts, Naomi Adams of Fremont, Darlene Streich of Greenwood, and Vernabelle Adams of Valley, and 24 nieces and nephews.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangments.
