Martha M. Christo, 100 yrs, of Fremont, NE, passed away, August 1, 2023, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont.

She was born August 6, 1922, in Primrose, NE, to Josef and Franzisca (Flidr) Socha. Martha grew up in Primrose and graduated from Primrose High School in 1940. She married Pete Christo on January 7, 1946. They farmed near Albion, NE until moving to the Fontanelle area in 1956. In 1980 they moved to Fremont, NE. Pete preceded Martha in death on May 26, 1984.

Martha was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont and a former member of the Eagles in Fremont. She volunteered for the Washington and Dodge County election boards for several years. One of Martha’s favorite hobbies was dancing and listening to polka music.

Martha is survived by her 2 daughters, Joann (Gary) Schlapfer of Fremont and Joyce (Ron) Johnk of Elkhorn, NE; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Christo; her parents; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, with a Rosary said at 7:00 PM all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
