Jan was born in Crab Orchard, W.Va., on Feb. 1, 1943, the daughter of Walter and Laura Belle Green. She attended Mark Twain High School and later graduated in 1960.

On March 5, 1960, she was united in marriage to Don Hatcher and over their 63 years of marriage, Jan and Don lived in several different locations around the world during Don’s military career.

In 1964, they welcomed a son, Charles, and in 1968 they were blessed with a daughter, Bethany.

Jan served the country for over 20 years with the Civil Service, primarily as a medical librarian. She worked at Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command, developing, and implementing systems that are still in use today. Although Jan had many interests including bowling, playing pinochle, reading and beating Don at Wheel of Fortune, her greatest enjoyment was the time she spent with family.
