Mrs Veana West Baker, 77, Dies; Rites at the Baptist Church Here A longtime Blair resident,, Mrs. Veana West Baker, 77, died Saturday at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

The funeral, with arrangements in charge of the Campbell Mortuary, was held at First Baptist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Rex Bear, and burial followed in the Blair Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Earl Hardy, Dave Cummings, Walt Gustin, Jesse West, Fern West and Fred Long.

Mrs. Baker, as Veana Pyles, daughter of Mary and Watson Pyles, was born near Blair May 17, 1880. She spent her entire life in and near Herman and Blair, and attended Herman School, and also was a member there of the Herman Baptist Church, Woodman Circle Lodge, Women’s Relief Corps and VFW Auxiliary of Blair.

She is survived by three sons, Clifford West of Herman, Kenneth West of Hastings and Woodrow West of Blair; two daughters, Mrs. Dale Grothe of Tekamah and Mrs. Stella Sanderson of California. A son, Julian, preceded her in death.
