Arlo H. Baker, 54, of 1728 Avenue B, Council Bluffs, Iowa, died Sunday at his home after a short illness with cancer.

He was born at Modale, Iowa and moved to Council Bluffs 22 years ago from Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Baker was employed the past 30 years for the Peter Kiewit Construction Co. of Omaha, Nebraska, and was a member of Laborers International Union 1140.

Survivors include two brothers, Gale P. Baker of Council Bluffs and Harold F. Baker of Oceanside, California; three sisters, Eileen Andrews of Columbus, Ohio; Phyllis Scott of Grove city, Ohio, and Agnes Mapes of Omaha.

Services will be at 1:30pm Wednesday at the McCurdy Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Dale J. Williams, pastor of Broadway United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at the Blair, Nebraska cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 7-8pm Tuesday at the McCurdy Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
