RANDOLPH – Funeral service for Ervin G. "Butch" Reineke, 81, of Corona, CA, formerly of Randolph, NE will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov., 2 at St. Jane Frances Catholic Church in Randolph. Burial with military honors will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Randolph with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Butch died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Pacifica Senior Living Center in Riverside, CA due to Parkinson's complications.

Butch was born on December 26, 1941 to Frank (Violetta) Reineke in McLean, NE. He is survived by wife Dinah, four children, LaVonne (Todd) Reineke-Wulf, Arlington, NE; James (Debbie) Reineke, Chesterfield, MO; Julie (Marty) Drueppel, Lincoln, NE; and Camille (Kevin) Reineke-Tierney, Corona, CA.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ervin G. "Butch" Reineke, 81, of Corona, CA, formerly of Randolph is pending at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Randolph.

Butch passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at the Pacifica Senior Living Center in Riverside, California due to Parkinson's complications.

Butch was born on December 26, 1941 to Frank and Violetta (Kavelage) Reineke at the family farm located near McLean, NE and was the fourth in the family of ten siblings. He attended McLean Elementary School and graduated from St. Frances de Chantal Catholic School in 1960.

In 1960 Butch joined the National Guard and served six months active duty at Fort Leonardwood in Kansas and Fort Dix in New Jersey. After discharge he served in the National Guard Reserve unites in Wayne, Nebraska, and Yankton, South Dakota until 1968.

On August 4, 1962 Butch and Dinah Langemeier were united in marriage at St. Frances in Randolph. To this union four children were born, LaVonne, James, Julie, and Camille.

Butch is survived by his wife, Dinah, four children, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Butch was employed by Wagner Seed and Fertilizer in Hartington, NE and also farmed for several years in the Cedar and Knox County area. In 1971, after a farm sale, he joined Farmers Coop in Oakland, NE as fertilizer manager. During his tenure in Oakland he graduated from the Farmland Industries Management Training Program in Minneapolis. In his professional career, Butch was Manager of the Farmers Coops in Waverly, NE and Richland, NE. In 1990 Butch joined Farmers Commodity Corporation in Omaha, NE and attained his Commodities Broker license and remained with FCC until his retirement in 2008. After retirement, he moved to Randolph and for two years assisted in the management of Tri-County grain after the unexpected death of his good friend, Allen Burbach.

In 2014, Butch and Dinah moved to Corona, CA to enjoy the sun and activities of their California grandkids.

Through his life, Butch remained a famer at heart and though he had relocated to California, he made sure to make a trip back to Nebraska each Spring and in the fall for harvest.

He was known as the "numbers" man and the king of spreadsheets to his kids and grandkids, who never hesitated to go to him with their questions.
