Arnold “Arnie” J. Otte, age 85 of Fort Calhoun, Neb.

Born: Aug. 3, 1938, Omaha, Neb.

Died: Nov. 14, 2023, Blair, Neb.

Arnie was preceded in death by parents, John and Anna Otte; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Glen Ries; and grandson, Jacob Otte.

Arnie is survived by wife: Marlene of 59 years; sons: John (Robin) Otte, Blair, David (Sonya) Otte, Millard, Neb.; daughter: Barbara (Paul) Harmston, Lansing Kan.; grandchildren: Dillon Otte, Blair, Amanda Otte, Arlington, Neb., and Zach Otte, Millard; one sister: Alice (Roger) Ferguson, Sheridan, Wyo.; one nephew, Richard (Sharon) Ries, Akron, Iowa.

VISITATION: 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 at Abiding Faith Baptist Church, 710 N. 15th St., Fort Calhoun, Neb.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 immediately following the visitation.

INTERMENT: Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Arnold was born August 3, 1938 in Omaha, NE to John and Anna (Nickels) Otte.

Arnold received his public-school education at District #16 in Omaha and Elkhorn High School.

Arnold joined the Army Reserves and received his honorable discharge on December 3, 1964.

Arnold worked for Chicago Northwest Railroad as a Signal Installer and Maintenance man. In 1957 he started working at Western Electric in Omaha where he got the nickname Arnie. The companies name changed to AT&T, Lucent; with Arnie retiring with Avaya as a Foreman in 2000 after 42 ½ years of service. After retirement, Arnie worked for Woodhouse Ford in Blair, NE, driving cars for 10 years. Arnie’s biggest love was being a farmer, raising cattle, corn and alfalfa.

Arnie was united in marriage to Marlene Toelke on May 23, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson, NE. They were blessed with three children: John, Barbara, and David.

Arnie was preceded in death by parents, John and Anna Otte, sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Glen Ries and grandson, Jacob Otte. Arnie is survived by wife, Marlene of 59 years, sons, John (Robin) Otte, Blair, David (Sonya) Otte, Millard, NE, and daughter, Barbara (Paul) Harmston, Lansing, KS, grandchildren: Dillon Otte, Blair, Amanda Otte, Arlington, NE and Zach Otte, Millard, one sister, Alice (Roger) Ferguson, Sheridan, WY, one nephew, Richard (Sharon) Ries, Akron, IA.
