Lila M. Christensen, age 96, passed away November 22, 2023. Memorial services will be held Friday December 1, 2023 at 11:00AM at Trinity Church (848 Gold Coast Rd, Papillion, NE 68046) On December 1, 2023. Graveside services will be held in the Herman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be directed to Trinity Church in Papillion.

Lila was born to Mabel and Ted Iverson at their farm home in Washington County, Nebraska on October 7, 1927. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Blair, Nebraska. She attended Blair High School for three years and graduated from Herman High School in 1945. Lila attended Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha and then worked in the office of Hancock Farm Equipment Company in Herman for two and a half years. She married Raymond Christensen on June 13, 1948, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. The couple moved to Omaha where they lived for 65 years.

Lila worked at Mutual of Omaha for 36 years – 4 years in the accounting department and 32 years for the credit union. She was the manager of the credit union for her last 13 working years, retiring May 1, 1988. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church for 47 years. Lila was active in the Ladies Church Circle, a greeter on Sunday mornings and helped with the mailing of the monthly newsletter. She was active in the Mutual of Omaha Retired Employees and the Retired Ladies monthly luncheons. She was a member of the Plum Beauties and Red Hat Society for many years.

Lila enjoyed entertaining family and friends, cooking, baking pies and home made ice cream, playing cards, dancing, traveling, including the 19 winters she spent with Raymond in Mission, Texas, camping, boating and water skiing. She especially loved being with and caring for her grandsons and great grandsons.

Lila is survived by her daughter Susan Lauritsen of Papillion, grandsons; Scott and wife Rachelle Lauritsen of Papillion and Steven and wife Melissa of Kansas City, Missouri, great-grandsons: Sam and wife Larissa Lauritsen of Shenandoah, Iowa and Max Lauritsen of Papillion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond Christensen, sisters; Phyllis Fitch, Vera Osmera and Carol Podjenski, brother Bud Iverson, and son in law Larry Lauritsen.
