March 22, 1946 - December 6, 2023

Eileen T. Justus was born on March 22, 1946 in Omaha, NE to Mary and Earl Snead. She passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at Immanuel Hospital on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Eileen was a loving, kind, caring, generous, and compassionate woman. Throughout her life Eileen was committed to her faith and family. She attended St. Benedict elementary and graduated from Marian High School. She was a devoted member of St. Benedicts church until she moved to Fort Calhoun where she was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic church.

After high school, Eileen married her "Honey Pie" Arthur Justus and from that union their son Earl Russell "Rusty" Justus was born.

Eileen worked at AT&T the majority of her adult life where her friends nick named her "EJ". She moved with AT&T to live in Colorado and California. It was during her time with the phone company that she developed her love for talking on the phone.

She returned back to Nebraska, and eventually retired to spend time with her mother, "Sugar", her son, and daughter-in-law and grandson, Austin "Earlwin". Austin was the joy of her life!!

Eileen loved family traditions, organizing cookouts, and reunions. She loved to travel and was great at planning family trips and would always welcome everyone. She was an avid volunteer in the community offering help wherever needed, volunteering at the library, museum, school, community center and her church. She particularly looked forward to volunteering at the Church's annual fish fry. She was always taking on new interests such as country line dancing, marching in parades, step dancing, etc. She loved going to the movies, country line dancing, Yellowstone, sitting outside watching it rain, and Captain Morgan. Her favorite hobby was shopping. No one could out shop or find a better deal than Eileen.

Eileen loved mothering her nieces, nephews, family members and friends, hence her nick name "Mommy I". "Mommy I" gave everyone their own special name. She was promoted from "Mommy I" to "Bami", which is the name her grandson Austin affectionately called her. "Bami" treasured her time and conversations with Austin and he brought such meaning to her life.

Eileen's friends were very important to her. Eileen has never met a stranger. She has remained dear friends with her kindergarten friend group from Saint Benedict and they enjoyed annual Briggins at Jesse's place along with her special friend group from Marian High School, and so many others. Eileen has never met a stranger.

With every birthday Eileen would inform everyone that she was "39". We all honored her with wishing her Happy 39th Birthday. It was truly a testimony of her youthful spirit and zest for life that will be forever cherished in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by: mother, Mary Norman, father, Earl Snead, step-father, E.W. Norman, aunt, Hortense Shearron, uncle, Arzo J. Shearron.

She is survived by: son, Earl Justus, daughter-in-law, Winnie L. Justus, sister, Cheryl Baha, all of Omaha, grandson, Austin R.
