John Wright LeCrone was born July 31, 1850 at Watson, Illinois, and departed this life February 16, 1940 at his home at Helena, Oklahoma. His age was 89 years, 6 months and 15 days. He united with the Christian church in early manhood.

He was married to Addie J. Claar at Watson, Illinois on October 23, 1872. To this union were born four children, Dan C. of Bentonville, Arkansas; Mertie M. McCann and Claar J. both of Kennard, Nebraska, and Edgar H. of Helena, Montana.

He moved to Washington County, Nebraska in February 1877. His wife died Nov. 13, 1890, and he married Fannie Widner in April, 1892. In the spring of 1915, they moved to the home near Helena where he lived the rest of his life.

He was a member of Woodmen of the World for 50 years, of the Masonic lodge for 46 years, and of the Order of the Eastern Star for 30 years and was in good standing in all three orders at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife of the home, four children above-named, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, other relatives and countless friends.

Music was furnished by a mixed double quartet, Mesdames L.S. Redman, D.S. VanWye, G.G. Harris and G.E. Dague, and Messrs Glenn Ewing, D.S. Van Wye, M.P. Welch and Ray Murray. Songs were “Where We’ll Never Grow Old”, “No Night There”, and “Abide With Me”.

Pallbearers were Masons, E.D. Immell, A.A. McCollum, E.B. Rowe, J.H. Nelson, G.G. Harris and H.A. Sommers.

Masonic burial service was used at Good Hope cemetery.
