Boyd Lambert, age 82 of Kennard, passed away Feb. 13, 2024. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Graveside services will follow in the Kennard Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard.

Boyd William Lambert was born on Sept. 1, 1941, at Plainview, Neb. He was the son of William Paul (Fritz) Lambert and Martha (Miller) Lambert.

Boyd’s family moved many times due to his father working farming and construction. He went to 10 different schools, the last being Kennard. His family moved on, but he stayed to finish school and work for Leroy and Bernice McCann. He graduated in 1960 from Kennard High School. That was the last graduating class from Kennard.

Boyd married Rita Stewart on Oct. 29, 1960, in Kennard. They had two children, Robin and Rex. Boyd and Rita later divorced. Boyd married Dixie (VanEck) (Bingham) Schlotfeld on Aug. 8, 1975, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. He inherited three more children, Jodie and Todd Bingham and Gina Schlotfeld. He was a wonderful father to all.

Boyd loved to camp and fish, but, most of all he loved riding his golf cart all over town. He always had a big garden and was seen giving all away if he could. He would gladly help anyone who needed help.

Boyd served his community by being one of the first EMTs that Kennard ever had, and was a retired member of the Kennard Volunteer Fire and Rescue department, and also served the Village of Kennard on the cemetery board.

Boyd was so proud of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a wonderful time with them. But they knew when he told them to behave, they'd better do so.

Boyd was preceded in death by his father and mother, daughter Robin (Lambert) Peck, and sister Marva (Lambert) Allison.

Surviving family members are his wife, Dixie; sons Rex (Vickie) of Glenwood, Iowa, and Todd (Carrie) Bingham, Blair; daughters Jodie (Brad) Reeh, Kennard, and Gina (Jim) Heins, Rising City; sisters Beverly Knight, Uehling, Kay (Kenny) Elsasser, Oakland; grandchildren Jennifer (Beth Fern) Reeh, Brandon (Kassie) Reeh, Virginia, Elizabeth and Maria Reeh; Chelsea (Reeh) Jeff Brisbin; Alli (Reeh) Levi Langie; Justin (Anna) and Zackary (Jessa) Bingham; Edgar (Jaymie) and Dillon Dishong; Jacob (Rachel) Kahnk; Amanda (Kahnk) (Chris) Koenig; Brenda (Mike) Shields; Brandon (Michelle) Tobin; Bridgete (Cliff) McDow; Josh Peck and Amy Peck, 28 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Judy Valentine, Unionville, Missouri and JoAnn VanEck of Pleasantville, Iowa, brother-in-law Al Allison of Omaha and many nieces and nephews.
