Linda Lee Bihler, age 80, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away March 21, 2024 at Autumn Pointe in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held in June in Minnesota.
Linda was born August 12, 1943 in Spicer, Minnesota, the daughter of Stanley and Faye (DeLong) Hansen. She grew up in Robbinsdale, Minnesota and graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1961. Linda married the love of her life, Spencer G. Bihler on December 27, 1963 in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Linda was a stay-at-home mom for several years while Spencer served in the Marine Corps and built his career. While raising her children, Linda proudly earned her college degree in Accounting and Computer Science. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1982. After graduating from college, she worked for AT&T. She later pursued her passion for sewing and owned the Twin City Shade Shop in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following owning the shop, she worked for Hancock Fabrics until her retirement. In retirement, she became an expert quilter, completing many quilts for family and charitable organizations. Although Linda became a widow in 1983, she was self-reliant and adventurous, instilling those qualities in her children: she pursued a pilot's license, jumped out of a plane, moved households on her own, and cared for her aging parents. Linda enjoyed traveling to visit her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. During the last few years, Linda loved nothing more than quietly reading a book, sewing or knitting, and spending time with family and her grand-dogs.
Linda is survived by her daughter Barbara (Dennis) Garrett; son Corey (Kristi) Bihler; grandchildren: Spencer, Katharine, Mary Rose, Maximillian, and Joseph; nieces and nephews: Dawn (Dale) Carpentier, Edd Hansen, Jr., LaMonte Hansen, Peter (Dawn) Hansen, Brody (Elizabeth) Hansen, Renee (John) Drahota, and Aaron (Elisabeth) Hansen; and sister-in-law Lynne (Bihler) Ehlenberger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Spencer G. Bihler, and brother Edd Hansen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Omaha Quilters Guild, P.O. Box 24614, Omaha, NE 68124.
