Albert Sperling was born May 20, 1870 in Germany. Soon after, he was baptized in the Christian Faith. He came to the United States with his parents in 1873, settling first at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In 1878 he with his parents moved to Sherman County, Nebraska. Later he was confirmed at the Emanuel Lutheran church near Ashton, Nebraska by Rev. E. Ulbricht, where he was later a voting member.

On June 26, 1901 he was united in marriage to Miss Alma Schormann of Ravenna, by her brother, the Rev. A.A. Schormann. In 1910 he and his family came to Arlington, Nebraska, where he has since resided.

To this union were born six children, three sons and three daughters. Two daughters preceded him in death in early childhood.

He entered into rest last Tuesday afternoon after a long illness, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 24 days.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, three sons and one daughter, namely Edgar, Mrs. John Brinkman, Elmer and Leonard, on son-in-law, three daughters-in-law, and fifteen grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Vasholz of Ravenna, Nebraska, and Mrs. Fred Blumer of Woodward, Oklahoma; four brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, and a host of relatives and friends.

His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Arlington, with Rev. Carl Hellmann officiating, and burial in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews: Leon Sperling, August Jacob, Alfred Scheer and Martin Schormann.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. Fred Blumeur, Woodward, Oklahoma; Mrs. Bertha Vasholz, Albert Polenz and Mrs. Edmond Peterson of Ravenna; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sperling of Walbach; Mr. and Mrs. George Sperling of Ord; Mr. and Mrs. Murray Rich of Scotia; Mrs. Everet Wright of North Loup; Mrs. Oscar Nehler of Lincoln; Rev. A.A. Schormann of Seward; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schormann of Beemer; Mr. and Mrs. August Jacob of Grand Island; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jacob, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jacob, Mrs. August Stranghoener and Miss Rosa Schormann of Fremont; Mrs. Art Krohn, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Krohn, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Giesler of Winslow; and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hoegermeyer, of Beemer.

Albert Sperling Funeral Is Held

Arlington—Funeral services for Albert Sperling, prominent retired farmer, were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran church with Rev. Carl Hellmann officiating. Mr. Sperling died at his home following a long illness.

Born in Germany, May 20, 1870, he came with his parents to the United States in 1872, settling in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1878, the family came to Nebraska, locating in Sherman County. There, in a church near Ashton, he was confirmed in the Emanuel Lutheran church by Rev. Ulbricht.

On June 26, 1901, he was married to Miss Alma Schorman of Ravenna, by her brother, Rev. A.A. Schorman. In 1910 he and his family came to Arlington, where they have continued to live.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Mrs. John Brinkman; three sons, Edgar, Elmer and Leonard, all of Arlington; and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Vasholz, Ravenna, and Mrs. Fred Blumer, Woodward, Oklahoma. Two daughters preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were nephews: Leon Sperling, Albert Polenz, Otis Scheer, August Jacob, Alfred Scheer and Martin Schormann. Burial was in the church cemetery with W.A. Reckmeyer and son in charge of the arrangements.
