21 May, 1942 - The Enterprise Everett King Has Heart Attack

Everett C. King, well-known in business circles in Blair, was the victim of a heart attack at about 4:30 p.m. last Monday. He and a step-son had leased an 80 acre farm south of Blair, and at the time of the attack, he was there planting corn. His wife had gone to the farm with him, and as he neared the end of the corn row near her, she took him a drink of water. After drinking the water he was stricken and fell against his wife. She did everything she could to revive him and finally in desperation, ran to the top of a hill, and waving her sweater, called for help. Finally she attracted attention, but nothing could be done. J. E. Campbell, undertaker, was called and the body was taken to the Campbell Mortuary. The funeral is being held at 2 o'clock, this Thursday afternoon, from the local Methodist Church. Interment will be made in Blair Cemetery.

Everett King was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Abner King. The mother died in childbirth, and Everett was reared by his grandparents on his father's side. He was 46 years of age on last February 6th.

On March 5, 1930, he was married, and the widow and three stepsons survive. The sons are Earl, Roy, and Junior Kirk, and the deceased was a good father to them, giving the same care as he would his own. In his dealings in business, Everett was honest and had many friends who will miss him greatly and will sympathize with the bereaved family.
