#1-Published in the Pilot-Tribune April 4, 1942 Blairite, 71 Died Sunday

Mrs. John David Lane, 71, resident of Blair and vicinity since 1876 died Sunday at her home on East Nebraska Street after a lingering illness. Funeral services with arrangements in charge of Campbell Mortuary were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, the Rev. A. W. Clark of Herman officiating, interment following in the Blair Cemetery.

Susannah Esther Gilliland was born June 18, 1870, at Chillicothe, Iowa, and came to Washington County with her parents at the age of six, living on a farm west of Blair. She and Linze Stricklett were married June 10, 1888, and to them were born five daughters, one of whom died in childhood. Mr. Stricklett died in 1903, and in 1913, she was married to John David Lane, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lane is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Eva Mulford, Mrs. Glen Nicholson, and Mrs. Clifford Ray, all of Blair, and Mrs. Vivian Foss of Omaha; one sister, Mrs. Rose Puffer of Tekamah, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SUSANNA LANE RITES TUESDAY

Mrs. Susanna Lane passed away last Sunday, March 29, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eva Mulford, of this city. At her death she was 71 years, 9 months and 11 days old, and had been a resident of Blair for the past 65 years.

She was married to Linze Stricklett on January 10, 1888. The husband passed on in 1903, and on October 24, 1913 she was remarried to David Lane, and they lived together until 1930 when he too passed on.

She leaves four children, Mrs. Eva Mulford, Mrs. Glen Nicholson and Mrs. Clifford Ray of Blair and Mrs. Vivienne Foss of Omaha and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Puffer of Tekamah. These, with a large circle of friends, grieve deeply the loss of a loving mother, sister and friend.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the local Baptist church of which she was a member, with Rev. A. W. Clarke of Herman officiating, and interment under the supervision of J. E. Campbell, Mortician, was made in the Blair cemetery.
