J. B. Long, 74, of Blair, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

J. B. Long was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Herman to Ernest and Comer (Maroney) Long. He graduated from Blair High School.

He served in the Navy during World War II. After his return, he worked for Jack Jensen Construction. Mr. Long, along with Garland Runyon, formed Runyon and Long Construction. He later purchased Runyon's interest in the business and continued to own and operate the company for 30 years.

On June 17, 1950, he married Betty Henningsen in Fremont.

Mr. Long was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Blair V.F.W., Blair American Legion, Blair Masonic Lodge, and was a past member of the Blair Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Don Young of Grand Island, Patricia and Gary Gaver of Mooreheaven, Fla., Donna and Larry Tietz, and Susanne and Brian Isenberger, all of Omaha; three sisters, Anna Lee Dworshak of Apple Valley, Calif., Susie Tupper of Arkansas, and Betty Frostig of Ocalla, Fla.; two brothers, Noal Long of Grand Terrace, Calif., and Jim Long of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Nona McDonald and Mary Lou Lutz, and a brother, Bobbie Long.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

*(Note -The children, Patricia and Donna, mentioned in the above obituary are the children of Betty's brother Dale Stricklett and his first wife, Virginia. After Virginia's death Betty and her husband JB Long helped raise the two girls.)
