Agnes Stanek, 87, passed away.

She was a veteran.

Left to cherish her memory are 2 sisters, Frances Wubbenhorst and Marie Fellows; many nieces and nephews.

Rosary 3pm Sunday

Funeral 11am Monday at the Colonial Chapel. Interment Herman, Nebraska cemetery.

Memorials acceptable to Mt. Michael Scholarship Fund.

Funeral Monday for Agnes Stanek

The funeral of a former Howells, Nebraska resident, Agnes Stanek, 87, was held Monday in Omaha, Nebraska

Officiating at the 11am religious service at the Crosby Burket Colonial Chapel and interment in the Herman, Nebraska Cemetery was a priest from Mt. Michael Abbey in Elkhorn, Nebraska. A rosary was also recited on Sunday at 3pm.

The daughter of Frank and Marie (Peroutka) Stanek was born January 19, 1895 in the Snyder-Dodge locality. Ten years later the family moved to south rural Howells, Nebraska. Her elementary education was received at a Colfax County rural school and she was a 1912 graduate of Howells High School. She also graduated from an Omaha nursing school and served as a registered nurse in the U.S. Army at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Afterward, Agnes was employed at a Veterans Hospital in Chicago before moving back to Omaha. For many years she served as a private duty nurse, traveling extensively through the state until retiring to Skyline Manor in Omaha 10 years ago. She died May 14 at Skyline’s infirmary following recent failing health.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Frances Wubbenhorst of P.O. Box 138 Herman, Nebraska and Mrs. Marie Fellows, a resident at the Montclair Nursing Home in Omaha; nephews, Dr. Charles Fellows M.D., Omaha, Dr. Frank Fellows M.D. Scottsdale, Arkansas, Dr. Robert Stanek M.D., Washington, D.C., Dwight Wubbenhorst, Herman, Nebraska, Heb Stanek of California, Richard Stanek, Naper, Nebraska, Lambert Stanek and Frank Stanek, both of Dallas, South Dakota, Robert Stanek, Denver, Colorado; nieces, Mrs. Frank Vomacka, Dallas, South Dakota, and Mrs. Florence McCauley, Flagstaff, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and also her brothers, Frank and Joe Stanek.
