Furmain Bicaba was born on September 27, 1964, in Ouakara, Burkina Faso, to Nyoumouhan Tuina and Binimi Bicaba, who worked as farmers. He was one of seven children. Furmain was able to attend school due to his eldest brother, Augustin, a teacher, whose support left a lasting impact on his life, one Furmain never took for granted.
Furmain and his first wife, Elisabeth, were raised in the same village. Together they had three children. In 1998, while serving as Prefet in the village of Kalsaka, Furmain met Kristen, a Peace Corps Volunteer assigned to teach English at the local high school. They bonded during motorcycle rides to nearby villages and conversations over warm beers. In 2005, they welcomed their daughter, and the following year, they married and made their home in Blair, Nebraska.
Furmain enjoyed his decade-long position in the detail shop at Sid Dillon, even though he wasn't a fan of Corvettes (les omelettes — omelets — as he referred to them). He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending countless hours at one or the other depending on the season. He had an intense interest in Burkinabe politics, and he remained deeply engaged with his homeland, even from afar.
Furmain was a thoughtful observer, a man who extended help quietly and never sought praise. He was deeply loyal, kind, and proud.
On July 2, 2025, Furmain lost his battle with depression.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kristen; children, Béné (spouse Hayden Campbell), Silvère, Grace, and Axelle; siblings, Tiambokou, Daniel, and Martine; and many beloved nieces, nephews, the Bicaba family from Ouakara, Burkina Faso and the Combs family from Blair, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
