November 11, 1950 – June 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Wilson, a devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, passionate educator, inspiring coach, and cherished friend.

Surrounded by family in the home Michael built with his beloved wife, Christine, he left this world on June 27, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and inspiration.

Born in Columbus, NE on November 11, 1950, Michael and his parents later moved to Blair, Nebraska where he spent his formative years. A proud high school and college athlete, Michael was known for his discipline, dedication, and teamwork – qualities he carried throughout his life.

He graduated from Blair High School in 1969, where he was actively involved in football, basketball, choir, and the science club. Following high school, Michael attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where he continued to pursue his passion for football. There, he studied physical education and science – and it was also where he met the love of his life, Christine.

A lifelong learner, educator and coach, Michael dedicated his life to uplifting others through the power of education, mentorship, and unconditional love. With over 30 years spent in the classroom, on the field, and on the court, he shaped the lives of countless young people – always encouraging them to be their very best. He retired in 2016 from Bryan High School in Omaha, NE, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and heart.

Beyond his professional roles, Michael was a man of great warmth and character. He found joy in the open road, whether traveling to see the USA, cruising down Main Street with high school buddies, or working on cars and simply appreciating their design and power. Music was another love of his. Michael was a member of his high school marching band, performed in musicals, and attended countless concerts throughout his life.

Michael's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted family man who cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He always put his loved ones first and lead with quiet strength and unwavering support.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Christine Wilson; his children: Matthew (Andrea) Wilson, Erin (Matthew) Schnase, Cassandra Wilson, Kylee (Beth Kemp) Wilson Kemp, Dallas (Shaun Nutter) Wilson; his grandchildren: Tanner, Natalie, Madison, Kayla (Brendon), Laney (Cole), Sydney, Tyler W., Jack, Tyler S., Samuel, Camden, Tate, Dieghton, Bri, Quinn, Daisy, James; and his great-grandchildren, Phoebe, and Emerson.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, George M. Wilson and Marilyn J. Wilson.

His legacy lives on in every life he influenced, every lesson he taught, and every heart he encouraged

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial donations be made to the Family, to be directed to meaningful causes at a later time.
