Obituary

Susan ("Su") Everswick passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska. A long battle with cancer ended in victory, as she joined her Lord Jesus, free from pain and illness. She was known and loved by many--as a wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Su was born in Harare, Zimbabwe (formerly Salisbury, Rhodesia)on September 20, 1959. She attended nursing school at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare, doing much of her training during the Zimbabwean Independence War. She met her husband, Dale Everswick, in Zimbabwe and they were wed on April 13, 1985.

In the summer of 2003, Su and Dale moved their family from their home in Zimbabwe and established themselves in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. Su wore many hats throughout her life--both in Zimbabwe and the U.S. She nursed at Karanda Mission Hospital, spent a gap year skiing through Europe, started an at home school in Nyanga, ran an at home day care in Fort Calhoun, worked as a librarian, driver, CNA and TA--and most diligently--cared for her household as wife and mom.

Su's life is a testimony to humility in service. Love was an action word to Su, made evident by her consistent and quiet efforts to help and comfort those who needed it. Even when her own body was failing her, she was giving instruction as to who needed a meal and where notes of thanks or encouragement needed to be sent. She was steadfast and loving in her care for her children and husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Kynnie Bowler. Left to cherish her memory are her husband (Dale), brother (Chris), children (Lee, Tallied and Ben) and grandchildren (Judah and Shiloh who knew her as "Nana"). Su's family and friends are thankful for the legacy she leaves behing and rejoice that she is with her Saviour.
