Susan K. Stricklett DeBoer passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on August 5, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born and raised in Blair, NE, to Peter Stricklett and Pearl Svengaard Stricklett. She graduated from Blair High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University.

It was at college where she met Bruce DeBoer and they were married soon after she graduated. After a few moves, the couple settled down in Denver. They had two children and grandchildren.

She initially trained to be a medical technician and did this until she had children. While her children were growing up, she was a Sunday School teacher and a leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She eventually pursued her Master's in Counseling from Denver Seminary and began her career of therapy, specializing in addictions and eating disorders. Despite struggles, she lived out her faith in a quiet way and trusted in the One who loved her without limit.

Susan loved gardening. She would spend hours in the summer attending to her flower beds. Susan enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren when they were little and loved them as they grew older. She appreciated spending time with her family and reading good mysteries.

In later years, Susan and Bruce would spend time in Bozeman, MT, and Surprise, AZ, enjoying the quiet times together. After Bruce died in 2022, she struggled as she missed him greatly.

Susan was preceded in death by Bruce.

She is survived by her children Lisa (Mark) Collins and Joshua (Jennifer) DeBoer, both of Highlands Ranch, and her grandchildren Andrew and Emma DeBoer, brother Ronald (Virgene) Stricklett and sisters Mary (Gary) Johnson and Patricia (Wayne) Stork.

A graveside service will be Saturday, August 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holland Cemetery, Holland, Nebraska.

Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
