Barbara Dee (Douglas) Chase went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2025. She was born on October 19, 1948, in Crete, Nebraska, to Gene and Donnette Douglas.
Barb was born and raised in Crete, where she graduated from Crete High School in 1966. While there, she met Dean. They were married in May of 1969. They moved to Fremont, Nebraska, where Barb worked at Fremont Hospital, where their daughter Amy was born. They moved to Tekamah in 1973, where she worked at various jobs, but her favorites were working as an insurance agent and being a mom.
Barb and her family attended First Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir and spending time with the many friends she had made there. Barb also enjoyed boating and spending time at their home on the river. She enjoyed traveling in general but really loved to go on cruises. Her favorites included Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. And Barb really enjoyed her weekly card games with Max and Les Ray and her visits with her good friend Judy.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Nate and Natalee. She loved watching them play basketball and other sports. Barb enjoyed her many visits to Syracuse, where she got to spend holidays and attend events with her grandkids. She so appreciated the many afternoons and weekends she had with them over the years.
Barb will be missed by a wide variety of friends, neighbors and many family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Mark.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dean; daughter, Amy (Kevin) Wemhoff; and her wonderful grandchildren, Nate and Natalee. She is also survived by her brother, Michael (Cindy) Douglas; sister, Christine (Denis) Strobel; brother-in-law, Dale (Jackie) Chase and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She is going to be truly missed by so many.
