Paul Janecek, 91
November 15, 1933 - August 21, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paul Janecek, 91, of Ft. Calhoun.
Paul grew up in Benson, graduated from Tech High, attended Omaha University (UNO), and worked as an IBEW electrician until his retirement.
Paul and his wife of 71 years, Pat, raised their 8 children in Ft. Calhoun, where he was a member of the volunteer fire & rescue department, served on the city council (including as mayor) and reveled in selling fireworks for over 60 years.
Among his hobbies, Paul was an avid collector of stamps, coins, erector sets, books and “stuff,” and served as first VP of the Omaha Philatelic Society. He cherished hunting trips with his sons and brother, George, and rarely passed up a quick run to the casino. Paul and Pat shared a love for auctions, road trips to Branson, Friday night dinner dates and holidays with the kids.
He was preceded in death by brother, George.
Paul is survived by wife, Pat; sister, Mabel Tosoni; daughters Debbie (Rick) Knowlton, Paula (Denny) O’Doherty, Sherry Benton and Lynnette (Jim) Shultz; sons Larry, Tim, Glen, Jeff; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren (2 on the way) and his Parsons House and Haven Hospice caregivers and friends.
At Paul’s request, the family will hold a private celebration of life.
Memorials suggested to Ft. Calhoun Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
