We gather to remember and celebrate the life of John Wick, who left us on September 13, 2025. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held in the Blair Cemetery.
John was born on June 21, 1939, in Holdrege, NE, to Clarence and Beulah Wick. He was an ambitious and dedicated individual who found his calling in the field of Hospital Business Administration, working first at Bergan Mercy Hospital for 25 years and then Immanuel Hospital for several years until the loss of his vision. He developed a direct billing system and also developed a program called the Management Admission Coordinators (MAC) in which he oversaw 125 employees. Both programs were later adopted by other area CHI Hospitals.
After his time with the hospitals he went to work for Outlook Nebraska. After serving on their Board of Directors for 3 years he joined their business as the Director of Fund Development. He helped raise almost $2 million to help the organization acquire a building and develop several programs that enriched the lives of those it served by giving them skills that could be utilized in the workforce.
John's resilience was not only evident in his professional life. It was also seen in his personal life as he overcame many obstacles with grace and poise.
John was a man of many interests. He was a generous soul who served various boards and committees, including the Creighton Federal Credit Union, The League of Human Dignity and The Commission for the Blind, among others.
He was passionate about sports, particularly Nebraska and Creighton teams, and his love for running was well known among his friends and family. John was deeply rooted in his faith as a dedicated member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Omaha and First Lutheran Church in Blair.
As we remember him, we are reminded of the verse from Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Angela Wick; loving daughter, Teresa McCormick (Bret) Loveland, Colorado; son, Todd Wick, (Laurie) Blair, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Cassie (Sam), Drew (Claire), Derek, Ethan, Alec (Emily) and Evan, four great-grandchildren, extended family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Beulah Wick, and sisters Sharon and Betty. His legacy of resilience, ambition and generosity continues to live on through his family and those he impacted during his lifetime.
In honor of John's generous spirit, contributions can be made to the First Lutheran Church Meals Outreach Program. Arrangements are provided by Campbell Aman Funeral Home, Blair.
