Susan Lynne Stuart Ryan, 81, of Gretna, Nebraska, passed away on September 19, 2025. She was born on May 8, 1944, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the only child of Robert M and Carolyn Stuart.

Susan graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1962 and Grinnell College in 1966 with a BA in biology. She went on to become a certified Medical Technologist from Northwestern University in 1968. Susan later earned her Physician Assistant master's certification from UNMC in 1999.

Susan was a dedicated medical professional who worked as a Medical Technologist at the Blair Hospital for 24 years and as a Physician Assistant for a local clinic for 15 years. Susan was a member of the Blair School Board and served the school district for 16 years. As a member of the Tangier Shrine Road Runners, she helped transport families to Shriners Hospitals for surgery and treatment. Susan was responsible for scheduling flights for patients who needed specialized care. She also enjoyed her time as a member of the Northwest Hills UCC Church participating in Bible studies, the bell choir and various women's groups.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James P. Ryan, whom she married on February 15, 1969. She is also survived by her son, Kelly Ryan and his wife Kimberly; her son, RJ (Robert) Ryan and his wife, Marla; her daughter, Shannon Jones and her husband LeJay; and grandchildren: Gage (Kandi) Ryan, Dalton (Alexa) Ryan, Cole and Grant Ryan, Liam, Lathan and Haley Jones, and great-grandchild, Collins Ryan.

Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army, Shrine Hospitals, Tangier Transportation Fund, and Northwest Hills UCC.
