Ann M Denker
June 26, 1935 - September 30, 2025
Alice Ann (Merritt) Denker was born in Tekamah, Nebraska, to Charles and Gertrude Merritt, and grew up on a farm near Elk City, Nebraska. She graduated from Valley, Nebraska High School and attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska
During this time, she met Gene Denker of Elkhorn, Nebraska and they were married on November 26, 1955. Together they made their home in Elkhorn.
Ann taught school at District 41 for many years alongside her mother before continuing her career at Waterloo Public School, where she taught until her retirement. She cherished the lifelong friendships she made with her colleagues.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Gertrude, her husband Gene, her sister Adele, her brother Delbert, and her sister Charlotte.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Jim (Kendra), Nanci, Jane, and Beth (John); her six grandchildren: Jim (Amanda), Joe (Sally), Brooke (Matt), Jack, Tim (Sadie), and Alli (Zac); and her four great-grandchildren: James, Glenn, Vivian, and William. She also leaves her sisters-in-law Shirley Potter Merritt and Gwen Jensen, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ann’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved attending the many activities of her children and grandchildren and was endlessly proud of their accomplishments. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed.
A private family burial will take place at Pioneer Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Pioneer Memorial Cemetery.
