Carl Svend Holst, a resident of this community for over 50 years, died November 18th at the age of 88 years. Born in Denmark, October 17, 1857, he came to America when he was 21 years old, locating at Minden, Nebraska, where he resided fifteen years, coming to Washington county in 1893.

He is survived by a son, Carl, who lives west of Nashville, Nebraska, and a daughter, Mrs. O.B. Olsen, of Omaha, Nebraska. His wife passed away 23 years ago.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Sievers Funeral Home, Rev. Layton Jackson being the officiating minister.

Burial was in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
