Kenneth Ervin Mathiesen, aged 68 of Omaha, formerly of Gardner, Kansas, passed away November 1, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, at Ovation Heartwood. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Graveside services will follow in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Campbell Aman.
Ken was born on June 11, 1957, in Blair, Nebraska, the son of Ervin and Marilyn (Ruwe) Mathiesen. He attended and graduated from Blair High School in 1975.
After being injured in a motorcycle accident he went on to start Ken's Small Engine Repair. He then worked various IT jobs in Omaha, Davenport, Iowa, and Kansas City before moving to Gardner, Kansas, in 2000, where he worked for McLane Company. In 2021, he retired from the McLane Company.
Ken enjoyed time outdoors fishing, sitting in the sun, and watching his Chiefs, Royals and Huskers. He truly loved spending time with family and friends. In August of 2025, he moved back to Omaha to be closer to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Lloyd and Violet Mathiesen and Raymond and Opal Ruwe.
He is survived by his sisters: Deb (Marv) Purcell, Pam Barnhart and Kim Bland; nieces and nephews: Kristy (John) Leddy, Tim Milan, Mindy (Jeremy) DenHartog and Travis Bland, along with great-nieces and nephews, and his special friends from Kansas City, Karen Weber and Kristy Ingala.
