| Obituary printed in the February 20, 1936 Fort Calhoun Chronicle
Frank Philbrook, who for the past six years resided on the island east of Fort Calhoun, died at his home there February 17.
He was born at Avena, Illinois July 4, 1872, and when three years old he moved with his parents to Bethany, Missouri, where he grew to manhood. He returned to Avena, and on February 25, 1887 was married to Lillie Haskins. Five sons were born to them, three of whom are still living. They are Clarence, Orville and Russell. Two other sons died within the past year. George passed away on June 6, and Ralph was killed by a train at Woodbine, Iowa October 20.
The deceased was highly regarded by his neighbors and other friends, and the sincere sympathy of all go out to this family which has had more than its share of grief within the past few months. The funeral service was held at Sievers mortuary yesterday afternoon, Rev. Prentice conducting the services, and burial was in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
