A. Grant Alan Killed in Car-Truck Accident South of Blair Saturday

A Grant Allen, 88 years of age, became Washington County’s second highway fatality Saturday, when he was killed in a car-truck accident on Highway 30 south of Blair.

The accident occurred Saturday afternoon on a bridge just south of the Berry Hill. James T. Mathews, 40, Denver, driver of the truck reported to Patrolman Ray Koerber that the Allen car “weaved a little, then straightened out, then suddenly swerved into the pathway of the truck.”

The Allen car was demolished and the truck cab badly damaged, as the car was pinned under the left front part of the truck.

Saturday morning Mr. Allen had been working in his yard and was planning a trip to California, with his wife, in the near future. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock at the Blair Episcopal Church, Father Samuel Elliston officiating with interment in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Olga, and one brother, Clyde M. Allen, Blair.

Pallbearers are Keith and Gordon Vinton, Emil Lorsch, J. Stuart Maurer, Floyd Triplett and Sam Haller.

The Bendorf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
