Eugene Carlton Thomas was born on January 22, 1928, in Modale, Iowa, to Leslie and Mildred (Wood) Thomas. He passed away November 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by family at the age of 97.

He enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Sergeant Bluffs High School and served two different terms. On January 23, 1950, he married Isabelle Kubie and together they raised five children: Marilynne, Jennifer, Stephen, Kimberly and Curt.

Gene was a hard worker. He spent many years at OK Tire and Dana College before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, gardening, raising chickens and, most importantly, spending time with his family.

Gene is survived by Isabelle, his wife of 75 years, his three daughters Marilynne (Mick) Rouse, Jennifer (Larry) Roberts, Kimberly Howard and son Curt (Angel) Thomas, all of Blair. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, his brothers Mike (Carrie) Thomas of Medford, Oregon, and Terry (Pam) Thomas of Anderson, Washington, and sister-in-law Bonnie Thomas of Decatur, Illinois, and other extended family and many friends. Gene is preceded in death by his son Steve, his sister Gloria, brothers Gail and Pat, son-in-law Barry Howard, and great granddaughter Stella Roberts.

To honor Gene's request, there will be no service.
