MRS. JESSIE REEVES PASSES TO THE GREAT BEYOND

The funeral of Mrs. Jessie C. Reeves, nee Dixon, was held from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dixon, last Sunday afternoon. A large attendance gave taken of wide sympathy for the family and respect for the deceased. The music consisted of a duet "Jesus Lover Of My Soul" by Mr. Gifford Dixon and his sister Miss Mildred Dixon, also a solo by Mr. Gifford Dixon "Beautiful Valley Of Eden". Rev John B. Williams, pastor of the Christian Church, preached the sermon from words of Christ which had often been in the thoughts of Mrs. Reeves in her suffering, "Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you." The remains were laid to rest in the Blair Cemetery.

Jessie O. Dixon was born in Blair April 5, 1896, and was raised here. She was only in her twenty third year when she died last Friday morning, August 9, 1918.

She attended the Blair Schools. When she completed her junior year in high school, she entered Missouri State University at Columbia. There she met Mr. George F. Reeves, a fellow student, and they were married at Huntsville, Missouri, August 10, 1913; both attended to finish their college course. Mr. Reeves has held positions as an educator since then and was county agriculture agent of Knox County this year. They are parents of two, a girl and a boy.

Three years ago the young wife and mother was taken with a lingering and incurable illness, which finally claimed her life. The suffering, endured in these few years, passes description. She knew there could be no hope and yet clung to her life for the sake of her husband and babies. The very best of skill was engaged, leading specialist in the county consulted and this spring her husband took her to Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minnesota. At last, weary with trouble and pain, she surrendered to the last enemy, at last to say good-bye.
