FANNY SPECKELS

Fanny V. Speckels, one of ten children born to Albert and Harriet McManigal, Blair, Neb., on May 24, 1896, died Monday, Aug 7, Sioux City.

She received her education in Nebraska schools, and in 1911, she came to South Dakota and taught school in Tripp County.

In June 1916 she was married to Harry D. Hanson. Four children were born to this union, Harriet, Winner; Dean, Omaha, Neb.; Rew Van, Raleigh, N.C.; Donald, also of Winner. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1933.

She served the community many years through the county offices of Treasurer, Auditor, and Welfare. In June 1951 she was married to C. F. Speckels.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and several years as secretary of the board.

She leaves to mourn her husband, D. F. Speckels, her children and five step-children; Helena Mahlendorf, Winner; Grace Roggow, Denver, Colo.; Harry Speckels, Hamill; Norman Speckels, Dallas; and Mary Halighn, Bassett, Neb. Other relatives included eight grandchildren and twenty step-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Watson, Walthill, Nebr., and Mrs. Everett Davis, South Sioux City, Neb.; and a brother, Byron McManigal, Sioux City, Iowa.
