Dwight L. Petersen, age 69 of Blair, passed away December 13, 2025, at his home in Blair. Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at PassageWay Church.
Dwight was born on June 10, 1956, in Blair, Nebraska, the son of Lloyd and Donna Lee (Plugge) Petersen. He was raised in Blair. Dwight attended and graduated from Blair High School in 1974. During his time in high school he was involved in basketball and track.
After high school, he attended Wesleyan College in Lincoln and graduated with an accounting degree in 1978. He received his CPA certificate and practiced until retiring in May of 2023.
In 1996, Dwight became a Husker Track and Field official, and in 2024 he was an inductee of the Husker Track and Field Officials Association Hall of Fame.
For several years, Dwight served the community as a member of the board of the Blair YMCA and was in charge of the prayer breakfast at the YMCA from 2006 thru 2009.
Dwight will always be remembered for his deep faith and being a quiet servant for the Lord. After his retirement, he dedicated his time to volunteering at the recycling center and spending more time with his family. Dwight was known for his big heart and his kindness.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie; sons Todd (Jennifer), Gregory and Garrett (Kayla); grandchildren HaiLee (Kyle), Daphne, Aida and Grant; sister Jacque (Scott) Anderson; father Lloyd Petersen, along with nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Lee Petersen.
