| William Henry Gilfry was born on December 14, 1886, the third child of Louis and Sarah Gilfry. He lived only eighteen days and was buried at Colby-Morley Cemetery.
Louis and Sarah were married in Illinois in 1881. Their first child, a daughter, was born there in 1882. Around 1883, the family moved to Arlington, Nebraska. While living and farming in the area, they had another daughter in 1884, followed by William Henry in 1886, and two more daughters in 1887 and 1890.
Louis's father, Henry Gilfry, came to Arlington around 1882 after the death of his wife in Illinois. Louis's brothers, John and Henry Gilfry, also moved to Arlington around 1884. Both married there and established families of their own.
Sarah Gilfry died in 1892. The following year, Louis remarried to Hattie McCoy, and the couple had three additional children. During the 1890s, Louis served as the town marshal of Arlington
