Marilyn June Swanson, age 81 of Blair, Nebraska, passed away December 23, 2025, in Blair. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be held prior to the service, at the church, beginning at 9:30 A.M. Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Blair Cemetery.

Marilyn was born on July 8, 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of John and June (Burwick) Sanderhoff. She graduated from Omaha North High School in 1962.

On July 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to Larry Lee Swanson. The couple put down permanent roots in Blair in May of 1970.

Marilyn began working for the Blair Community Schools in 1977, serving lunch to grades 4, 5 and 6 at Central School before moving to Arbor Park. She worked for the schools for over 20 years before her retirement.

Over the years Marilyn enjoyed traveling with Larry to Chamberlain, South Dakota, for fishing trips with Pete and Nancy Kaiser and Laughlin, Nevada, with Bill and Lydia Hunt, along with many other destinations.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her friends crocheting, making the baptismal blankets for First Lutheran Church and taking cake decorating classes with her friend Nancy Gardner. She enjoyed spending time gardening, bird watching and rock collecting. Marilyn will always be remembered for her amazing chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies. Marilyn and Larry always had an open-door policy at their home for all family and friends.

She leaves her children: son, Gary (Melissa) Swanson of Warrensburg, Missouri, and daughter, Chrissy Maybon of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Sami (Josh) Wyrick, Jordyn Maybon and Levi Swanson; great-grandchildren: Ruby Wyrick and Ronin Wyrick; brother, John (Donna) Sanderhoff, sister-in-law Carol Sanderhoff, brother-in-law Mike (Kathi) Swanson, sister-in-law Carol Swanson; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, brother Robert Sanderhoff and many other special people in her life.

Memorials may be directed to Joseph's Coat in Blair, Nebraska.
