Robert “Bob” Leo Epperson, 90, passed away on February 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Visitation will be held prior to services beginning at 9:30 a.m. The family extends an invitation following services to a luncheon at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Private graveside services will be held in the Crescent, Iowa, Cemetery at a later date.
Bob was born on December 7, 1935, to Oscar Lyman and Bertha Vivian (Sampson) Epperson, the eldest son of nine children, and was raised near the shores of Lake Manawa, Iowa — a place that shaped his childhood and remained dear to him throughout his life.
Bob graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1954 and began what would become a 36 year career in finance with the Union Pacific Railroad. In his early 20s he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he proudly served two years of active duty.
Bob married Deanna Delores McIntosh of Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1960 and together they welcomed three children. Deanna tragically passed away the day after the birth of their third child, a loss that forever marked Bob’s life.
In time, one of his Lake Manawa friends introduced him to a young nurse on a “blind date,” a meeting that changed everything. Bob married Marilyn Kay (Christensen) Epperson, RN, on December 4, 1966. Together, they built a loving home and welcomed three additional children, completing a family grounded in resilience, devotion and faith.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Kay (Christensen) Epperson; his children Chuck (Melissa) Epperson, Kelly (Denny) Maresh, Bob (Malaura) Epperson, Dean Epperson, Karina (Jeff) Weibel, and Kristin (Zach) Sauer; 21 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his sisters Bernice Dean and Ginny McDaniel; his brother Delb (Sue) Epperson; his sister in law Jodie Epperson; and countless nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Blair and the Blair Lions Club. He served as Scoutmaster for Troop #143 and gave his time as a TeamMates Mentor. His commitment to service reflected the same quiet generosity he showed throughout his life.
