Mrs. Edith Samland
Weeping Water (Special) Mrs. Edith Samland, the daughter of Henry and Laura Jorgensen, was born August 31, 1910 in Desoto, Nebraska.
She was married to Charles Samland April 4, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska. During the early 1950's, she and her husband moved to Weeping Water, Nebraska.
She died December 15 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 61.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and husband, Charles, who died three weeks prior to her death.
She leaves sons Joe and Ronald, both of Omaha, and Richard of Jansen, Nebraska; daughters, Mrs. Walter Kimberling of Gilliam, Missouri, Mrs. Earl Van Dorien of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Carmen Green of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Alfred Jorgensen of Chicago, Walter of Lincoln, Nebraska and Hans of Blair, Nebraska, and a sister, Marie, in Denmark; 15 grandchildren, 6 step-children; 2 great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
Hobson-Dorr Funeral Home of Weeping Water was in charge of arrangements.
Funeral was December 18 at the United Methodist Church, the Rev. Donald Yost officiating. Mrs. John Groesser was organist; C.V. Wallick, soloist.
Pallbearers were Frank Samerland Jr., Gary Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Michael Phillips, Larry Vlcek and Glen Vlcek.
Burial was in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
