#2 from obituary printed Tuesday, March 31, 2026 Washington County Enterprise, Blair, Nebraska

Chris Wehrmann, 58, of Fremont, Nebraska, and then Blair, Nebraska, passed from the loving arms of his loved ones, to the Jesus that he loved, on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Chris was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 9, 1967. He joined our family in September of 1968 after being part of one of the earliest studies on early intervention with developmentally delayed infants and toddlers. Bill & Lorna Jean Wehrmann welcomed him with love and parented him for the next 5+ decades. He was an unexpected, precious gift to our entire family, one which changed each of us forever.

Chris attended the Fremont Public Schools and graduated in 1989. He worked at the Fremont ENCOR Workshop, Taco John's, and Bonanza. He volunteered at Earl May in Fremont, at recycling paper at numerous places in Fremont, and at Lutheran Family Services in Fremont.

He loved his Big Wheel, his two cats, carrying his lunch box to school, his teachers, his blue bicycle, and bowling. He loved playing his guitar, working at Fremont's first Taco John's and Bonanza, watching Sesame Street, dancing, dogs, wearing his cowboy hat, and his black vest. Being a cowboy, like his brother, and listening to country music was a big deal, especially when it was Garth Brooks or Toby Keith or Johnny Cash!

He was really proud of his "big, giant TV". Wearing a tux and being in each sibling's wedding was a special point of pride, as well. He was beyond excited to go to a Garth Brooks concert and a Little Big Town concert. Chris loved Star Wars, Dukes of Hazzard, and Hannah Montana!

Chris loved going to Little Scandinavia and having coffee and a ginger cookie. Amy and Jill and the dogs loved him. He loved looking at motorcycles at Dillon Bros. and even got a ride in the Slingshot! The humane society in Omaha was a special treat…especially visiting the cats. He was a cat magnet! One day a big black cat came and sat on his lap and played with the brim of his black cowboy hat. He talked about that for months!

But most of all he loved his family-his mom and dad, 4 siblings and their spouses, his 12 nieces and nephews and their spouses, and his 24 great-nieces and nephews. He loved weddings and birthday parties and holidays where he could see all of his family members!

He loved babies, in particular his family's babies, but also babies in restaurants, where he stopped to talk baby-talk to them in their high chairs. He talked to babies while shopping and when he was at the car show at John C. Fremont Days. He loved babies!!! Except when they cried!

Chris was friendly to everyone! He tipped his hat to women and gave a two-fingered wave to other guys who looked like they might be cowboys or motorcycle riders. He hurried to open doors for other people and couldn't wait to see his friends at church each week.

He was talkative and funny, loved to play jokes-especially on Scott, and stubborn-wow, was he stubborn! He was a bright light in our lives and in the lives of most people who knew him. We will miss him forever and miss the spark of joy that he brought to every day.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Effie Hoops and Otto and Alice Wehrmann, parents, Lorna Jean (Hoops) Wehrmann & Bill Wehrmann. He is survived by his siblings, Debbie (Jim) DeFrain, Vicki (Art Sorensen) Wehrmann-Sorensen, Cindy (Ted) Menzel, and Scott (Sarah) Wehrmann. He is also survived by a treasured family friend, Kari Mullen.

Chris leaves a very large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins and many friends from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and Trinity Lutheran Church, Blair.

There will be no public service for Chris. His cremains, as well as those of his parents, will be interred together at the Veterans' Cemetery in Omaha this summer.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont in charge of arrangements.
