| Eva L. McCluskey
March 2, 1928 - March 26, 2026
Eva McCluskey, age 98, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at Accura Healthcare in Tekamah, Nebraska, surrounded by the care and compassion of those who served her so faithfully.
Eva was born on March 2, 1928, in Herman, Nebraska, to Floyd and Grace (Hovendick) Magill. She spent her early years on the family farm before her parents temporarily moved to Omaha, where she attended North High School and began forming the strong work ethic and sense of responsibility that would guide her throughout her life.
On May 8, 1944, Eva married Herbert Clark. Together they welcomed three sons—Herb, John, and Michael—and made their home outside of Tekamah, Nebraska. On August 8, 1959, Eva married Marion McCluskey, and together they had two children, Kent and Karen. Eva devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, creating a home filled with love, care, and steadfast support.
Eva's working life reflected her commitment to service. She began her first job after school at Omar Bakery in Omaha. Over the years, she worked in the ASC office in Tekamah, for the University of Nebraska Extension in Burt County, and later for the Burt County Surveyor and Roads Department, where she retired in 1996 after 17 years of dedicated service.
Service extended far beyond her professional life. Eva gave generously of her time to the Arizona Township Voting Commission for many years and served on the Selective Service board. Alongside Kay Schafer, she helped establish the Senior Center in Tekamah and was instrumental in bringing a Head Start program to the community. She was also a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Tekamah for many years.
Eva found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved country music and treasured attending country music festivals with her husband Marion, especially her favorite in Fremont. Traveling with her family brought her great happiness, and her most cherished trip was to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Above all else, Eva's greatest joy was her family. Her home was often filled with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she delighted in every moment spent with them.
Eva was a proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; great-grandmother to 18 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandmother to six great-great-grandchildren. Her love, kindness, and steady presence will continue to live on through each of them.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Herbert Clark and Marion McCluskey; her sons, John and Michael Clark; her brothers, Merlin and Don Magill; and her sisters, Mary Brown and Jean Schroeder.
She leaves her children: Herb (Pat) Clark of Tekamah; Kent McCluskey (friend Nicole) of Tekamah; Karen McCluskey (Dave Dickinson) of Malcolm, Nebraska; and stepson Dale Busch (Lori) of Lincoln, NE; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Judy Magill.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many healthcare workers who provided Eva with compassionate care over the past several years, especially the staff at Accura Healthcare and the team from Gentiva Hospice.
