John Henry Jensen, age 76 of Herman, also known as Hank, passed away May 5, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23 at the Herman American Legion at 10:00AM. Graveside services will follow in the Herman Cemetery.

John was born on January 25, 1950, in Fremont, Nebraska, the son of John and Ruth Jensen. He was raised on the family farm outside of Herman, Nebraska, and attended Thone Country School. He later attended High School in Herman and graduated in 1968.

On July 22, 1970, he was united in marriage to Diane K Adams in Bridgeport, Nebraska. John was hired as a carpenter and later started his own construction company, Jensen Construction, building homes, a business his three sons later became a part of. He retired from the construction company in 2016, and John and Diane moved back to Herman from Omaha. John was a craftsman through and through; his passion for woodworking, mechanics and history were admired by many.

John leaves his wife Diane of Herman; sons: Matthew (Hope) of Wahoo, Nebraska, Cory (Nicole) of Bennington, Nebraska and Jeremy of Herman, Nebraska; grandchildren: Madelyne, Lucas, Evan, Breanne, Austin, Owen and Hallie; sisters: Betty Heinssen, Marie Rager and Valerie Petersen; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, children: Luke and Effie and sister Marian McCluskey.
