John Young Jr., 96, of Blair, Nebraska, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held at Campbell Aman Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 6 to 7pm, followed by a prayer service at 7pm.

Services will be held the following day on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 10am at Saint Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

John leaves his children, John W. Young III "Rusty", Julienne Young, Pamela and Troy Niday, Teresa and John Guhl, and Elizabeth and John Clarke.

John Winfield Young, Jr., 96, of Blair, Nebraska, passed away on May 15, 2026, peacefully surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held at Campbell Aman Funeral Home on May 20, 2026, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held the following day, May 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Francis Borgia Catholic Church, where John had been a faithful member for 90 years.

John was born on December 27, 1929, in Saint Joseph, Missouri. He grew up in Blair, Nebraska, and graduated from Blair High School in 1948. John married Margaret “Peggy” McQuistan on January 28, 1956, in Pender. Together they built a life in Blair, Nebraska, and shared 66 years of marriage before Peggy’s passing in 2022.

John worked for 30 years as a distributor for Pepsi Co. After retirement, he spent another 25 years with Woodhouse Auto Family, delivering vehicles to customers throughout the region.

John loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed his morning coffee group, playing cards, and family gatherings. One of his favorite traditions was traveling to Stewart’s Island in Kenora, Ontario, where he enjoyed fishing trips and making memories with those he loved most.

John is survived by his children, John W. Young III (Rusty) of Blair, Nebraska, Julienne Young of Blair, Nebraska, Pamela and Troy Niday of Santa Rosa, California, Teresa and John Guhl of Blair, Nebraska, and Elizabeth and John Clarke of Blair, Nebraska; his sister-in-law, Janyce McQuistan of Pender, Nebraska; his grandchildren Chad and Teri Wiebers, Jenna and Nick Hadaway, Courtney and Chad Steckler, John and Kelcy Young, Ben and Stephanie Young, Shelby and Shane Zeller, Ryann Niday, Maggie and Tim Stoltenberg, Steven Niday and fiancée Emma Cooney, Margaret Lashier, Ryan Young, John Clarke (Jack), Leo Clarke, Peter Clarke, and William Clarke; and his numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Young; his son, Timothy Young; his parents, John and Florence Young; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ty and Bette Compton and Shirley and Joseph Gutschow; his brothers-in-law, Bill McQuistan, Larry McQuistan, Kenneth McQuistan, and Neal and Georgia McQuistan; and his grandsons, Jacob Niday and Eric Guhl.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church in Blair or DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge.
