#2 From obituary printed in the Thursday, February 26, 1942 Fort Calhoun Chronicle

In the passing of Mrs. Louise Jipp, which occurred at the home of her son, Fred, in Fort Calhoun on February 19, another pioneer of Nebraska has gone to her rich reward.

Born Louise Margaret Gottsch, in Denmark, on July 14, 1851, she reached the age of 90 years, 7 months and 5 days. When three years old, she came with her parents to America, and in 1867 was married to Carl Frederick Jipp, in Fort Calhoun. He preceded her in death by many years.

Six children were born to this union, of whom three survive: Mrs. Emma Hammond of Stockton, Kansas, Mrs. Jessie Henrichsen of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and Fred Jipp of Fort Calhoun. Also 26 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Jipp typified the splendid group of pioneers who laid the foundation for the great state of Nebraska—always helpful to others in addition to the responsibilities of her own immediate family and later assisting in the care of several of her grandchildren left motherless. Hers was indeed a life of devoted service, this service continuing up until a few months before her demise. Her friendly, unselfish spirit will truly be missed, not only in her family circle but in the community where she lived so long and so usefully.

The funeral services were held in the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Thomas Sandlin being the officiating minister, and burial was made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
