Steve Vernon Halsey, 68 of Blair

Steven Vernon Halsey, 68 of Blair, passed away May 31, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska. Following Steve's wishes, he was able to give others the gift of organ donation. The community is welcome to attend graveside services Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00AM at the Blair Cemetery.

A Celebration of life will happen at a later date.

Steve was born July 19, 1957, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Kenneth Halsey Sr and Dorthe Jensen. Steve was raised in Blair and spent most of his life in the community. He was a big fan of Harley Davidsons, NASCAR, NHRA and the Indianapolis Colts. He loved music, especially Stevie Nicks.

Steve worked for the Nebraska Department of Transportation, at the Blair yard, for 42 years, retiring as the supervisor in 2024. He also owned Blair Moving for many years and enjoyed the people he met and worked for. He will always be remembered as a friend to animals and loved all of his cats and dogs throughout his years. Steve loved his family and cherished the time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Lori Halsey, children; Kelley (Ashley) Halsey of Blair, Lynn (Derek) Stover of Omaha, Keith (Chelie) Halsey of Fremont, Sheila (Al) Volpp of Tekamah and Heather Howlett of Ohio, grandchildren; Pyper (Papa's Girl), Ryker, Dylan, Ebanie, Colten, KJ, Cameron, Tyler, Parker, TJ, Thunder, Ashlee and Michael, 3 great-grandchildren, Siblings; Pat (Janace) Grover, Sean Grover, Jolene (Tim) Boykin, Tami (Ted) Brands, Kenny (Rosa) Halsey Jr., and Chris Jensen, brothers in law and sisters in law Bob and Kelly Saunders of Council Bluffs and Stuart and Erin Saunders of Lincoln, 22 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and great nephews, along with his "bonus children" extended family and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Brenda Marie, in- laws Joy Saunders and Bob and Vicki Saunders.
