Dewey Worsley passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday June 3, 2026. Dewey was born on July 19, 1948 at the US Naval Hospital in Pensacola Florida. With his father's career as a Navy pilot, Dewey spent some of his childhood in Japan and Hawaii before coming to Chicago and graduating from Arlington High School.

He went on to attend college at Illinois State University. While there, he was part of the founding members of the Illinois State Rugby Club. Through Rugby Dewey made many deep and lasting friendships both in Illinois, Wisconsin and Omaha. Dewey was an avid rockhound, hiker and outdoorsman. After coming to Omaha, he met his future wife Wanda on a backpacking trip. They continued to travel and share their love of the outdoors throughout their 32 years of marriage. Dewey spread his love of life, humor and knowledge of the world through his teaching career. He worked as a substitute teacher for 5 years throughout the Omaha Public Schools and then as a Special Education Teacher at Nathan Hale Middle School in Omaha and Arlington Public Schools. Dewey was an animal lover, and in addition to owning dogs throughout his life he was a volunteer for many years at the Blair Animal Shelter. Dewey always had a joke for anyone he met. He cared deeply for his friends and family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Dewey leaves his wife Wanda Worsley; brother Herb (Jim) Worsley; and many other loving family and friends.
