Born on December 5, 1960, John lived a life centered on family, hard work, and service to others. A lifelong farmer, entrepreneur, volunteer firefighter, and friend to many, he was known for his willingness to help wherever needed and for putting others before himself.

John was the devoted husband of Elisabeth "Liz" Tyson, and proud father of Joel (Amy), Zach (Trisha), Cody (Ashley), and Eric Tyson, he was a loving grandfather to Teagan, Thea, Bryleigh, Isla, Brantlee, Nina, Emerlee, Veya and Haisley, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He leaves his wife, children, grandchildren, and his mother, Nancy Tyson. He was preceded in death by George Tyson, Mary Tyson, and Morgan Allison.

For more than 35 years, John served on the Herman Volunteer Fire Department, including nearly two decades as Fire Chief. He dedicated countless hours to protecting and strengthening the community he loved, supporting local causes including the Herman ballfield, school and annual fireworks celebration.

John found peace in the outdoors, especially while fishing, hunting, and spending time at the family cabin in Canada.

In recent years, he renewed his faith through the Catholic Church in Blair, though those who knew him best would say he long practiced his faith through service, kindness, and devotion to family.

John will be remembered for his dependability, generosity, sense of humor, and belief that an ice-cold Busch Light shared with family and friends was one of life's simple pleasures.
