Barbara "Barb" E. Kile, 88 years, of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Methodist Fremont Health, surrounded by family.
Barb was born on May 2, 1938 to David and Velma (Rector) Long in Fremont. She grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1957.
On October 10, 1958, she married the love of her life William E. Kile Jr., a love that continued her entire life. She would often say, "When you've been married to the best, what else is there?". They adopted two children, Stacey and Jamie, and the happiest days of her life began.
She was a member of the Blair Congregational United Church of Christ in Blair, Nebraska and past member at Trinity Lutheran in Fremont. She was a member of the A.A.L and Parent Teacher League at Trinity School, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 200.
She was directly involved in anything her children and grandchildren were doing, including roller skating club, school plays, cub scouts, girl scouts, 4-H, and being a room mother at her children's school.
She was her grandchildren's biggest fan and watched every event she could: baseball games, basketball games, bowling matches, choir and band concerts, robotics competitions, and esports. Usually while wearing her own custom T-shirt.
She found joy in so much of life: gardening, landscaping, art, music, the Kentucky Derby, reading, talking to anyone, Disney movies (especially ones about horses), old westerns, Property Brothers, reading, sewing, animals, helping a stranger, all children, chocolate "for the energy," ice cream "just to cool her throat," and making special keepsakes for her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Stacey Kile; brothers, Kenneth (Norma) and Merwin Long.
She is survived by her daughter, Jamie (Scott) Johnson; sister-in-law, Connie Long; grandchildren, Andrew Johnson, Kyle (Amanda) Seckinger, Spencer (Sarah) Johnson, Avian Kile; great grandchildren, Connor and Juniper Seckinger, Jaxon Johnson, and Emily Wiese; and all the other children Barb encountered over the years who knew her love.
The final message she wanted to leave with everyone is "I will always love you!"
A Memorial Service will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 24, 2026 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Pastor Jim Skrobo will officiate.
